The fourth pillar of democracy is very strong and needs to be strengthened further with specially trained man power in this domain. Owing to this fact, the University has taken special effort to educate people about the significance of media studies by the establishment of School of Journalism and mass communication.

The Faculty of journalism and mass communication is imparting both full time and part time programs. These programs center to the needs of academics, higher learning and research. They also prepare students to join media houses in print and electronic media in different positions and various locations. To facilitate holistic journalism training, the faculty has a doctorate latest module of teaching to cover broader areas of journalism education at diploma and degree at under graduate and post graduate levels.

The coverage areas of the programs are print, electronic and online journalism, specialized field of news reporting special emphasis on news production,, print, electronic and news media, media system and management, plus research method for journalism and internship with any media organization. Especially the programs would include concepts of role of news in societal journalism, history of journalism, acquiring skill in identifying the news and separate facts from opinion so as to learn how to cover political and social issues of particular importance to the society. Ethical practices and human values are given due importance in training.
